DESCRIPTION
Gutta-Percha Solvent.
If root canal retreatment is necessary, the filling material must be removed. Knowing the risks of using only mechanical methods to remove the filling material, several techniques are proposed, and the use of solvents is necessary in all of them.
Most root canal filling techniques use endodontic cement and gutta-percha cones. Gutta-percha is a material basically made up of a vegetable resin and is soluble in chemical solvents, such as orange terpene.
Filling cements that contain rosin in their composition (e.g. N-Rickert, Pulp Fill) are also dissolved by the orange terpene, as rosin is a vegetable resin.
Orange essential oil is also effective in removing root canals filled with Zinc Oxide and Eugenol cement.
CITROL is an alternative for carrying out a new endodontic treatment, with great solvency capacity for gutta-percha cones. It is a volatile essential oil, extracted from the peel of sweet oranges, with a pleasant odor.
