Bioglass F
Description
Bioglass F is indicated for cavity lining, including light-cured restorations (sandwich technique), for reconstruction of nuclei where there is still a remaining coronary structure (50%), for filling small retentions or defects in preparations, for recovery of cusp stiffness without dentin support.
It is the material of choice for treating patients with high risk of caries. It provides remineralization of adjacent tissues and recovery of cusp stiffness without dentin support. It has chemical adhesion to the dental structure through the bond with Calcium ions, and its adhesion to the enamel is greater than to the dentin. It has thermal expansion and contraction very similar to dentin, eliminating postoperative sensitivity. Due to its high adhesiveness, it does not require the use of additional restraints. It is biocompatible and hydrophilic. Due to the initial acidity of the cement, in deep cavities it is recommended to use cements based on Calcium Hydroxide. Fluorine also provides a low pH to the material. It is radiopaque and its high adhesion to dental structures does not allow marginal infiltrations.
Advantages
- Good adhesion to dental structures;
- Fluoride release;
- Great ease of handling;
- The release of fluoride provides the material with anticariogenic action;
- It also absorbs fluoride from the oral environment by continuously recharging itself.
