Epic

Description

Epic is a nano-hybrid, high-density, light-cured, radiopaque composite resin with fluorescence. Its inorganic composition combines micro- and nanoparticles ranging from 5 nm to 2 µm, enabling efficient filler packing, where smaller particles fill the spaces between larger ones. The inorganic load corresponds to approximately 79% by weight.

Epic offers fluorescence, excellent polishability, and outstanding mechanical properties. It can be used for both anterior restorations (including veneers) and posterior restorations. Its shade system is complete, with options for enamel, dentin, body, effects, and pigments.

Its organic monomer matrix undergoes polymerization through free radical formation. The camphorquinone in its composition is activated by visible light (400–500 nm, blue spectrum) with maximum absorption at 468 nm, triggering the polymerization reaction.

Efficient photoactivation depends on factors such as light wavelength (400–500 nm), curing unit intensity, distance from the light source, exposure time, and layer thickness. Polymerization time for Epic is 40 ± 2 seconds when using a curing light in this range.
