Calcium Hydroxide
Description
Pulp Capping Agent.
Calcium Hydroxide is one of the most accepted materials today to induce the formation of reparative dentin, presenting essential properties for materials used in procedures involving dentin. These properties are:
a) To allow increased calcification of the pre-existing dentin layer, providing better protection to the pulp when subjected to injuries;
b) To prevent the procedure or material used from causing irritation to adjacent structures.
In Endodontics, it is employed as an intracanal material, being a potent antimicrobial (through the inhibition of bacterial enzymes), with excellent histocompatibility, and stimulating the host tissue, promoting tissue repair (through enzymatic activation, generating a mineralizing effect).
Advantages
- Has the property of stimulating the formation of sclerotic and reparative dentin;
- Protects the pulp against thermoelectric stimuli;
- Protects the pulp from the action of toxic agents present in some restorative materials;
- Microorganisms cannot develop in direct contact with Calcium Hydroxide;
- The product can act for several days. Long-term dressings with Calcium Hydroxide have shown reversal of various periapical changes;
- Causes inhibition of bacterial proliferation;
- May deprive residual microorganisms of their nutrient supply, preventing exudate penetration into the root canal system;
- Its highly alkaline pH of 12.4 may favor bacterial death;
- High degree of purity guaranteed by the best raw material suppliers on the market and by our constant laboratory evaluation of the product.
Forms of presentation
- 1 bottle of Calcium Hydroxide. containing 10g.
