RESIGLASS F
Description
Resiglass F is a hybrid (resin-modified), light-cured, radiopaque glass ionomer cement, mainly used for linings under resin, amalgam, ceramic and metal restorations.
The glass ionomer is a prominent material within modern dentistry, mainly due to its adhesion and fluoride release property, making it an ideal material where cavity sealing and caries prevention are desirable.
They are not indicated for areas of direct masticatory efforts and are used in the reconstruction of prosthetic remnants only in elements with more than 50% tooth structure. The release of fluoride provides the material with anticariogenic action. It also absorbs fluoride from the oral environment by continuously recharging itself. It provides remineralization of adjacent tissues and recovery of cusp stiffness without dentin support. It has thermal expansion and contraction very similar to dentin, eliminating postoperative sensitivity. Due to its high adhesiveness, it does not require the use of additional restraints.
It is biocompatible and hydrophilic. Due to the initial acidity of the cement, in deep cavities it is recommended to use cements based on Calcium Hydroxide.
